At a ceremony held in the Museum of Industrial Production of Olive Oil, one of the nine museums runned by the Piraeus Bank Cultural Foundation, Den Gamle By (Aarhus, Denmark) was announced as the winner of the 2016 Luigi Micheletti Award. The trophy was presented to the museum’s director, Thomas Bloch Ravn, by Karl Murr, President of the EMA Panel of Judges. Representing the Luigi Micheletti Foundation was René Capovin.
The judges said that Den Gamle By is a pioneering institution in the museological handling of the pressing social questions of our time. At a ceremony held in the Salone Vanvitelliano at the Palazzo della Loggia in Brescia, The National Archives of the Netherlands was announced as the winner of the 2015 Micheletti Award. The trophy was presented to the Archives’ representatives, Astrid Hertog and Nancy Hovingh. This year a Special Commendation was given to the Maritime Museum of Denmark at Helsingør. The winner of DASA Award is MAGMA Museum of Arts in Iron in the Maremma, Follonica, Italy.

At a glittering ceremony held in Glasgow at the Riverside Museum (2012 Micheletti Award winner), MUSE - Museo delle Scienze in Trento, Italy was announced as the winner of the 2014 Micheletti Award. The rich programme (seminars, workshops, visits of the city museums) culminated in the presentation of the candidates (17 museums, from 12 European countries) and in the delivery of the Prize to Michele Lanzinger, Director of the MUSE.
